We're about as ready as we can be. The storm shutters are up, the animals are ready to go, the car is packed.



It's dark inside even though it's gorgeous and sunny outside. I'm scared to be leaving my house, not knowing what I'll come back to.



Part of me says it won't be as bad as the news is saying. But then I hear them say that a Cat 5 hurricane is headed right here, and that our whole area will be flooded and hit with 130mph winds.

Peter and I will be together, we have somewhere to go, and we're able to take our animals with us. We're lucky. But waiting to see what happens is still going to be so hard.
