Play Pizza

My sister posted a really cute idea on her blog today - play pizza!

A simple project using easy to find materials that takes about 10 minutes. Perfect! It doesn't hurt that it is being demonstrated by my adorable nephew. What a great idea!

A Little Progress

The flutterby quilt is coming along.

All the squares are now triangles for the AmandaJean quilt.

Supplies

I picked out some supplies for the toy swap.

All in all a good evening. Now it's time for bed!

Yikes, More Squares!

Some day my flutterby quilt will be finished but in the meantime I couldn't resist starting to cut fabric for another AmandaJean quilt pattern. Can't wait to see this one come together!

Spring Bag

As much as I love crossing things off my projects list, sometimes I get an idea in my head and just have to go make it. The gorgeous weather gave me thoughts of spring and I decided I needed a new bag.

This fabric seemed like the perfect transition from winter to spring, with the grey and bright blue.

Now I think I'll get to work clearing off my floor by sewing together that quilt top...

Ready to Sew

I got my flutterby quilt arranged last night. I think I need a felt wall so I don't have to crawl around on the floor to do this...

More Letters

These are for my niece Maegan, for her newly decorated bedroom. I could have used a little more practice with the Mod Podge (there are some wrinkles) but I think they will look great on her wall. The "A" has loops to hold photos and is from PBTeen with some added fabric and ribbon for color-coordination.

MiChiMa

I got these adorable felt letters from MiChiMa and attached magnets to the back so they can go on the fridge. I'm sending them along with a baby present for a big brother. I like the so much more than plastic letters.

Freshcut Finished

Every new quilt I make becomes my favorite.

Freshcut Quilt

This one is designed using the measurements on Amandajean's site, for her "Future's So Bright" quilt. It came together great, and my corners even match with only a couple gaps!

Freshcut Detail

I waited until the arrival of Ms. Abby Lynn on Sunday the 4th to start this so I could pick the fabric after I found out she was a girl. I had the top pieced by Thursday the 8th, and got it all quilted by Saturday and bound by Sunday to get in the mail! I think this might be a record for me.

It was hard to wait to share this but I wanted it to get to the recipient (who reads my blog, hi Suzanne!) before I spoiled the surprise!

So Many Tiny Squares

I have all the fabric cut out for my Flutterby quilt. My goodness this is a lot of tiny squares.

Big squares, too.

I have a crick in my neck from leaning over my cutting table! Now we're off to a work party - dressing up, dancing, free dinner... Good weekend, so far!

Top 100

I just wanted to quickly thank Ellen of the long thread for including my tea towel apron on her list of the Top 100 Tutorials of 2008! It was quite fun to see this while browsing Etsy today.

Traditions

Every year for Christmas I give my husband a photo calendar with photos from the year just finished. I usually just go through Snapfish or Kodak. Since I am now the proud owner (finally) of a working color printer, I decided to design his calendar myself.

Each page is 6" wide and 11" tall and has photos from our three 2008 trips - Costa Rica, Chicago, and Las Vegas/Arizona. I highlighted our birthdays, work holidays, and anniversary.

I was going to punch a hole in the top of each page to hang it but I found this cool clip and glued a magnet to the back instead, to hold the pages and hang at work on his magnetic wall.

My original inspiration for this came from Story by Mia on Etsy with this calendar - now sold out.

I am so happy with this! It will be fun next year to redesign with 2009 photos.

Off to a Good Start

I spent a few hours over the weekend tidying up my craft room to get the new year started out right. I fixed my sewing organizer that had started to sag and finally hung up a little shelf with drawers to keep things off my cutting table.

I also put away a lot of fabric that had come in the mail or been used for various projects - I'm running out of space so I definitely need to get in some sewing! To help with that I kicked off a couple more projects that should use up some of the stash

I'm even cutting into my "good" fabric! Results posted soon, hopefully...

Goals for Oh Nine

I'm not big on resolutions, but I thought it might be fun to set a few challenging craft-related goals for 2009 and see how I can do.

Phantom Ranch

#1 - Keep my craft room under control. I want my room to be inspiring (like Happy Zombie and Alicia) and right now it is plain and messy!

#2 - Use fabric faster than I buy it. Right now I am stashing fabric a lot faster than I use it and I want to reverse this so I don't feel guilty coming home with the latest and greatest!

#3 - Learn how to sew clothes. I have bought many patterns and books and yardage to do this and never actually made anything I'm proud of. First on my list is a skirt from my Built by Wendy book, but I'd really like to make some clothes for work, too.

Grand Canyon from Kaibab

If I can handle three this year, maybe I'll try a few more than that in 2010!

Photos courtesy of our trip to the Grand Canyon. Traveling and improving my photography are ongoing goals!
