A couple weeks ago my sister handed me a navy blue shirt to turn into a
Rice shirt for an upcoming football game. This led to some
glitter experimentation, and when I felt it would work, I set out to make a Rice shirt. Well...

The brush slipped, and while the nice thing about fabric paint is that it doesn't wash out, the crummy part about fabric paint is that it doesn't wash out. Luckily I have a very understanding sister, and she even suggested the fix:

Voila! The spot is... well... harder to see! It turned out that we got free tickets to the same football game, so I whipped up my own shirt - without the footballs (and no "oops" spot) so we wouldn't
completely match!

I did end up finding glitter everywhere when I wore it, so that part of my freezer paper stencil obsession may have to fall by the wayside!

Well, I've been quite silent lately. It's not that I haven't been crafting... Work has been busy, and I just have been too tired to make that step from crafting to posting. In fact, I made my mother-in-law a necklace to hold her glasses (very cool, with a ring to put her glasses through) and didn't even take a picture! I did take a picture of the card I made for her...

I truly only made this card because everything was so easy to get out and put away again. More praises for my craft room!
Another neat thing... I'm a little late posting this, but I was
featured on a cool blog,
ThisNext. Thanks for the mention!

Took a whirlwind spontaneous trip to New York City this past weekend, still trying to recover.

At Ground Zero for Sept. 11 anniversary. Got home late to start a busy week. Still reeling. Normal posting will resume soon.

My craft room is now complete enough to work in, and I have been really enjoying it!! At night, if I want to work on a little project before bed, it is so easy, because everything is right there at my fingertips and I don't have to make a big mess in the living area of my house. I am in heaven!
I still have a lot of sprucing up to do, and the walls are quite plain right now, but I can't wait to share my after pictures. Remember, before pictures are
here and
here.

I still want to hang a lot of things on the walls, get a colorful rug, hang curtains, and organize everything a little better with more labels. But I know where everything is, and I already love being in the room, which is a big step up from when it was our study. I am one lucky lady!!

In the past few years, when a celebrity has passed away, I haven't been any more upset than I would be hearing about any other stranger who had died. For some reason, though, when I read that
Steve Irwin had been killed, it made me very sad. I know he did crazy things, and I've heard some say they're surprised something like this didn't happen sooner... But I feel the world has lost someone who truly loved life, who found success doing something they loved and sharing it with others, and who truly valued his family.
I was inspired to finally embellish a black tshirt that has been in my "to do" pile for ages...

You'll be missed, Mr. Erwin!

Thanks for all the great feedback on my
quilt idea! I especially loved
Michelle's suggestion to use just the matching fabric and some solids, so I worked on the plan a little more last night:

I will need even less of the green fabrics for this design, so it fits with my low price goal. Which do you like better? Fewer or more greens? I'm going to try not to overplan this project and get started soon...
To actually post some craft content, it's
auction time again and I really wanted to contribute something.

I discovered
The Earth Bazaar recently and just had to place an order (all their chalcedony was on sale!), and these gorgeous freshwater pearls were part of my first order. I think it's interesting to see how my style has been changing over the past year.
Tonight it's going to be all about painting...
