Green with Envy

Our room is painted! It looks awesome! We spent a lot of time this weekend working on it, but it didn't take up all our time or anything. So I took a few different views...

Like the picture above the bed? I think it looks really good. It will look even better when there are curtains on the windows to soften it up a little.

I can't wait to find a mirror for over the dresser. And when I recover that rocking chair, Peter's going to have to stop keeping his clothes there.

We're going to hang my bridal portrait over Peter's dresser, it looks really good there, we just haven't got around to that yet. The small frame on his dresser with the bear is the part of my wedding bouquet we saved. We're getting so close to having this room just the way we want it!!

I Just Might Make It

Well, as of this weekend I think I might have a chance of finishing the green blanket. I am almost caught up to where I was on the yellow blanket when I stopped: 50 rows on the green to 56 on the yellow... I think I can do at least 10 more tonight. The trick will be to decide when I'm half done so I can switch to the other part of the center section. Okay, enough words, you want pictures!! I linked them this time so you can see a larger version..

Oh, and if you click on the close up, you can see where I messed up early on. Oh well! It proves it's handmade!!

Keep Me Away from Fabric Stores

Peter is on our church council now, and while he was in his meeting last week I decided to pass time by browsing at Hancock fabrics. Usually I don't find too much there, but I needed fabric for my sister's purse and it's a lot closer to church than Hobby Lobby... Well, they have a new manager! Who wants to update the fabric they carry! So they were totally marking down a ton of their quilting fabric. I went a little crazy. Here's half of what I got:

The green and silver fabric has already shown up as my sister's purse, but I have a lot leftover so I'll have to think of something else fun to use it for. All the other fabric in this picture was only $1.25/yard!!

Most of this fabric was on sale too, except for the Hello Kitty and the green polka dots... but I just couldn't resist! Most of these will probably show up as linings for bags, which means they also may end up for sale on eBay or something because I can only use so many bags!! We'll see... First I have to finish that speed-knitting baby blanket!!

Yellow Baby Blanket

As I mentioned before, I've put the yellow baby blanket on hold to try to madly make the green one for a baby shower in three weeks... Anyway, here's how far along the blanket is now:

I'll probably start working on it again during our ski trip in March!

And another note - this is 56 rows into the center section of the yellow blanket... I'm already almost 20 rows into the center section of the green blanket, so there is hope that I might be able to finish it in time!!

Plaid Disaster

Sometimes ideas I have in my head don't come out exactly the way I plan. I got some cute fabric a while back that I thought I might make into a skirt for Thanksgiving... well, that didn't happen, so I decided to make a cute purse with an asymmetrical flap. I even pulled out the magnetic snap I got for my birthday. So here is the result:

The flap just totally didn't work out - it's not big enough at all. I still do like the idea, though, and might try it again with different fabric and a slight redesign. I ended up just throwing this away. After saving the snap, of course!

Silver Clutch

Yes, yes, an update! I have been knitting like a fool - the yellow baby blanket is temporarily on hold and I am 12 rows into the same blanket in green... I want to finish it for a baby shower on March 5th, which is only three weeks away. I will need a break from knitting for a while if I actually am able to finish it!

In the meantime, I made this little clutch for my sister.

She's in a wedding next weekend and wanted a little purse for the reception. Little is probably the key word here - it came out a little smaller than I planned, but should still hold her cell phone and digital camera. The essentials! Here it is with my cell phone in it for size perspective:

And see how cute it is hanging on my wrist?
