Ginger Bliss

I finally got some half decent pictures of the bags I made this weekend using the Ginger Bliss fabric Katy got me for my birthday. The tote is probably my favorite bag I've made so far! I'll bring it to Virginia so you can see it in person, Katy.

First, a little tote bag I made:

I used to keep my knitting projects in small paper handle bags, but the cats liked to dive into the bag and I was worried about my projects. So I made this bag, and I'll probably make one more since I usually have two projects going at the same time.

Now for the tote bag... I made this out of an old pair of khaki pants I don't wear anymore, and two fat quarters of ginger bliss.

Here is the outside of the tote where you can see the stripe I put on the outside (there's a matching one on the other side):

Here you can see the straps. The outside is khaki, but the underside is lined with matching fabric:

Finally, here is the inside of the bag. There are two pockets on one side and one on the end. Right now I'm using this bag as a purse, since I love it so much!

Other than making another drawstring bag, I don't have any other plans for the Ginger Bliss... I love it so much, I have to think of something worthy!

Future Projects

I went to JoAnn's a week or so ago, and got some things for some fun projects, so I thought I'd share...

I had originally gotten yarn to make the kids (Maegan, Kendall, and Grant are often referred to as the kids...) scarves, but I have decided that would be a little ambitious. And I'm not sure they'd appreciate handknit scarves anyway. So I picked out this fleece that matches the yarn I had already gotten:

I am going to make fleece hats like these with yarn pompoms, and then simple fleece scarves with a fuzzy blanket stitched edge using the yarn. I think they'll come out really cute!

I also couldn't resist this fabric on sale:

The picture just doesn't do it justice. I'm going to pick up some small clutch handles and make a fancy purse out of it, I think. I may end up selling it on eBay or giving it away, since I don't think I'd ever use it... I just thought it would be a fun experiment! It will probably wait until after the holidays.

Finally I got this fabric and suit pattern to make a skirt for Thanksgiving with my tall boots and cream sweater:

I'm going to alter the pattern just a little to make the skirt slightly shorter. Since we leave for Virginia day after tomorrow, I'm going to go start cutting the pieces for this right now, and hopefully even start sewing it. I'll finish it tomorrow for sure! I get to install my first zipper, hopefully that won't be a problem!!

I made a couple bags this weekend, but I want to get really good pictures of them, so I'm going to see if it's sunny tomorrow - it's been raining for so long now! Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow...

Pictures!

Finally, I had a chance to take some pictures! This post will have a lot, so bear with me!!

First, here is some new yarn I got...

This is for Karen's scarf. The pattern is here. It's really more of a celery in real life, but it doesn't photograph very well.

This is for Kristen's scarf. The pattern is here. I think it will be really pretty.

Now some works in progress...

This pink scarf was supposed to be for Jenn, but it's much brighter pink than I thought. So I might make this for Lauren and give the turquoise scarf to Jenn. It is going so fast! The pattern is a ladder pattern, which you can kind of see in this close up shot:

Now for something Mom can't see. Don't click if you want your Christmas present to be a surprise, Mom!! For more pictures, click here.

Finally, some pictures of our house... I finally got the wreath I wanted for above the mantel! I added some fall colored candles, but I will replace them with more red candles after Christmas. I have better pillar holders coming, but they're on backorder from Target and should be here the first week of December.

The mantel:

The wreath closer:

And even closer:

I have big plans for this weekend, so hopefully I'll have even more pictures to post!!

The Overdue Update

Well, I haven't had much to post lately. The problem is I'm working on a lot of Christmas presents, so it's hard to post progress. So here are a few links.

Katy, don't click this link if you want your Christmas present to be a surprise!

Mom, if you don't want to know what your album of our wedding pictures is going to look like, don't click this link!

Okay, so that's a pretty pitiful update, but it's better than nothing! Hopefully I'll be home when it's light out one of these days, and then I'll have a lot of pictures to post!

The Purple Scarf - Finished

Well, it's finished when I hoped it would be! And I love it! Maybe it will cool off even more here, so I don't have to wait until our trip to Virginia to wear it. It could actually be a little longer, but I decided with all the other projects I want to do (and buy yarn for), I wouldn't order any more for this scarf. I'll just call it a stylish length!! Here's a picture of me wearing it:

Edited to add: How funny is it that I'm wearing the same shirt in the only other picture of myself I've put on here?? I guess that shows you what tshirt I usually throw on when I'm just laying around the house knitting!

The Wedding Gift Album

Okay, okay, it's been a long time since I posted. Sorry! Here are some awful pictures of the very cool (if I do say so myself) wedding album I made for a family friend's wedding. I had her mom send me some pictures pre-wedding, and included them, and left space for a picture on each anniversary through their 15th. I'm very happy with the way it came out!!

Click for pictures.
